We loved our little café at 49 Barclay Place. It was a wonderful space, a brilliant showcase for our coffee and something the whole Modern Standard team will always be proud of.

Most importantly, it became part of the Bruntsfield community. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who came through its doors, whether you visited every morning, discovered us while passing through Edinburgh or simply stopped for one very good cup of coffee.

Like all good things, our time at Barclay Place eventually came to an end, and the café closed in June 2026.

Modern Standard Coffee is still very much here — and we're now putting even more of our energy into the things we love most: roasting exceptional coffee at our Glenrothes roastery, finding exciting new coffees and making it easy for people across the UK to enjoy them at home.
