The basics
Weigh it
Kitchen scales make the biggest difference. Weigh both coffee and water, and your cup will taste the same every time.
Grind fresh
Coffee keeps its flavour far longer as whole beans. Grind just before you brew, and only what you need.
Water matters
Use fresh water just off the boil. If your tap water is hard, filtered water will taste noticeably better.
Taste and adjust
Sour or thin? Grind a little finer. Bitter or dry? Grind a little coarser. Change one thing at a time.
