Working at Modern Standard: your questions
What kind of roles do you hire for?
Our team covers roasting, production and packing, dispatch, wholesale account management, barista training, operations and finance. Our sister company, Modern Standard Service, also employs engineers who install and repair commercial coffee machines.
Do I need coffee experience?
Not for every role. Everyone who joins is trained as a barista, and the whole team can take SCA coffee education. If you care about doing things properly and looking after people, we can teach you the coffee part.
Where would I be based?
Most roles are at our roastery in Glenrothes, Fife. Our wholesale and training team also works from the London Coffee Studio, and our service engineers are based at the Harlow workshop in Essex.
What's it like to work here?
We're a certified B Corp, and Workers is our highest-scoring area in our B Corp assessment. Everyone is paid at least the Living Wage, gets their birthday off and drinks a lot of very good coffee. Meet the team.
