How to Make an Iced Latte at Home
Cold milk, ice and a fresh double espresso. How to make a refreshing iced latte at home, with flavoured versions to try.
In this article
An iced latte is one of the simplest café drinks to make at home, and you don't even need to steam any milk. The trick is pouring a fresh, hot espresso over plenty of ice and cold milk so it chills instantly without tasting watery.
What you need
- An espresso machine (or a strong AeroPress or moka pot coffee)
- Espresso coffee, such as our Momentum Espresso
- A tall glass, ice and cold milk
- Optional: a Sweetbird syrup
The recipe
- A tall glass filled with ice
- About 200ml of cold milk
- Double espresso (about 36g)
- Optional: 10ml syrup
Step by step
- Fill a tall glass with ice and pour in the cold milk.
- If you're using syrup, stir it into the milk now.
- Pull a double espresso. See our espresso guide.
- Pour the espresso slowly over the top for those layers, then stir before drinking.
Flavours to try
- Iced vanilla latte: 10ml vanilla syrup
- Iced caramel latte: 10ml caramel syrup
- Iced hazelnut latte: 10ml hazelnut syrup
Tips
- Use plenty of ice. More ice melts more slowly, so the drink stays strong.
- Syrup mixes into cold milk far better than into ice, so add it early.
- Not a coffee fan? Try an iced strawberry matcha.
