When the leaves turn, the pumpkin spice latte comes back. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and a little pumpkin, with a double espresso and silky milk. It's very easy to make at home, and you control how sweet it is.

What you need

The recipe (12oz)

  • 10ml pumpkin spice syrup (one pump)
  • Double espresso (about 36g)
  • About 220ml of steamed milk
  • A pinch of cinnamon

Step by step

  1. Add the syrup to your cup.
  2. Pull a double espresso on top and stir. See our espresso guide.
  3. Steam your milk to 60 to 65°C with a little silky foam and pour it in.
  4. Finish with the topping.

Pumpkin spice, three ways

Tips

  • Start with one pump. You can always add more, but you cannot take it away.
  • Oat milk works beautifully here. It brings out the spice.
  • A pinch of cinnamon on top adds aroma without any sugar.

FAQs

Does a pumpkin spice latte contain pumpkin?

Our version gets its flavour from Sweetbird pumpkin spice syrup, which is built around warming autumn spices. Check the product page for full ingredients.

Can I make it without an espresso machine?

Yes. Use 60ml of strong coffee from an AeroPress or moka pot, and warm and froth your milk in a pan or with a handheld frother.

Is it dairy free?

It can be. Use oat or soya milk and skip any whipped cream.

A 12oz pumpkin spice latte with semi-skimmed milk is around 150 kcal. See the breakdown for other milks in our coffee calorie calculator.
